Why do my radiators heat up in the summer?
If you notice your radiators are heating up in the middle of summer you will more than likely have a faulty motorised valve in your airing cupboard.
A faulty motorised valve in a central heating system can cause various issues with heating and hot water distribution. Motorised valves are responsible for controlling the flow of water within the central heating system by opening and closing to direct hot water to different areas, such as radiators or the hot water cylinder. When a motorised valve becomes faulty, it can result in problems like,
-Heating or hot water not working: If the valve fails to open or close properly, it can prevent the flow of hot water to the desired areas. This can lead to a lack of heating in radiators or a lack of hot water for taps and shower.
-Inconsistent heating or hot water: A faulty motorised valve may partially open or close, resulting in uneven distribution of hot water. This can cause certain radiators or outlets to receive less heat or hot water compared to others, leading to temperature inconsistencies throughout the property.
-Noisy operation: A malfunctioning motorised valve may produce unusual noises, such as clicking, buzzing, or humming sounds. These noises can be indicators of internal issues or problems with the valve's electrical components.
-Valve not responding to controls: When you adjust the temperature or heating settings on your thermostat or heating controls, a faulty motorized valve may not respond accordingly. This can be due to wiring issues, electrical faults, or mechanical failures within the valve.
