What happens when I change my boiler


Deciding to change your boiler is no easy decision with a substantial cost involved. We at TDP Heating Solutions aim to make this process as simple and as painless as possible. With this simple guide, it will explain the process from the initial contact you make with us to the end where we explain how to use your new energy efficient boiler and everything in between.

Find an installer

We would always recommend contacting at least 3 boiler installers to discuss your needs. These individuals should be part of Gas Safe (See our other blog discussing the importance of using a Gas Safe registered company when undertaking gas work).


The quote

At this stage you will explain your needs to our gas engineer and we will discuss different options available.  During this stage our installer will look at the existing system to see if certain upgrades are required like, the gas supply, condense waste pipe, thermostatic radiator valves and smart thermostat controls.

We always aim to get our quotes to customers with 24-48hrs of visiting them.


The Install

The big day has arrived and your new boiler is going to be installed. Most domestic boiler installations take between 1-3 days depending on the complexity of the job.

During this point we will be laying dust sheets, removing the old boiler (cylinder and tanks if necessary), altering pipework, installing the new boiler, flushing the radiators, commissioning your new system. There is a good chance your water and gas supplies will be disrupted during this time but we will keep you well informed of this.


The handover 

At this point your house will be back to normal again and you will have a new energy efficient boiler meeting your heating and hot water needs. We will explain how to operate your new boiler, setting the temperature for the heating and hot water, and operating your smart heating.

We will handover all boiler documentation and send off for the boiler certificate from Gas Safe.
